Born in the Alps, in the Aosta Valley of Italy, Simon is a native Arpitan speaker. He grew up in a multilingual environment with a French-speaking father and Arpitan-speaking mother, learning the Italian language in Aosta Valley’s fully French-Italian bilingual educational system. His interest in the world’s languages stems from an attraction to cultures different from his own, with language being one of the main tools used to convey cultural features.

He graduated from the School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators (SSLMIT) in Trieste, Italy, with French, Italian and Russian as working languages. He later worked as a French teacher in Mexico and currently works as a French as a Foreign Language (FFL) digital editor in an educational publishing house.
